IDD Therapy Disc Treatment

IDD therapy is a non-invasive, targeted disc treatment used to combat slipped, herniated, bulging or prolapsed discs. These conditions often need more than the conventional treatment offered by osteopathy that consist of soft tissue massage, stretching movements, high velocity thrust technique and gentle release techniques.

IDD therapy offers a different approach and is an alternative treatment that can be used in place of steroid injections and surgery, both of which can result in some unwanted side effects.

IDD therapy could be right for you if:

  • You would like to avoid surgery & steroid injections
  • You are experiencing chronic neck or back pain
  • You have sciatica
  • You have slipped, herniated, bulging or prolapsed discs
  • You are unable to perform everyday activities
  • You are unable to work
  • You take medication for pain regularly
  • You would like a long-term solution to your condition
  • You have tried other treatments without success

What does IDD therapy do?

Short for Intervertebral Differential Dynamics, IDD therapy uses an Accu-SPINA machine to target specific segments of the spine. Pressure is relieved from the nerves and spinal discs by gently stretching tight muscles and stiff ligaments. This decompresses injured or bulging discs, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms allowing it to function more efficiently. Water, oxygen and nutrient-rich fluids are then encouraged to move into the discs allowing them to heal.

Through the use of IDD therapy’s decompression technique and the pressure being relieved from the injured intervertebral discs, patient’s are able to regain mobility and are freed from the pain caused by muscle spasms.

What does a session of IDD therapy entail?

We begin each session by warming the muscles and ligaments with a heat pad, treatment is then performed using the Accu-SPINA machine and then to finish patients undergo a cooling process which calms the treated area. In total, a single session lasts one hour.

How many sessions are needed?

The amount of sessions required of IDD treatment varies from patient to patient. To give an accurate answer we would need to assess the patient’s condition during a complimentary consultation. Before we can begin treatment, we require an MRI scan to be sent to us, this gives us a clear presentation of what the patient is experiencing and allows us to put together a suitable plan of action. If you don’t already have MRI scans, we can refer you to have them done.

Clinical Director John Yeboah

“As an experienced Osteopath, I see a lot of complex back pain issues including an increasing number of spinal disc problems.  IDD Therapy completes the non-invasive treatment offering we can give our patients when they need something more for their pain.

If someone is suffering with a disc issue or chronic low back pain which does not require immediate surgical intervention, then IDD Therapy offers solution opportunities which simply did not exist before.”

We look forward to seeing you.

Note: As with all treatments results vary depending on the nature of your condition and IDD Therapy treatment is one treatment tool we use. As part of your assessment we will advise you on the most applicable treatment for your individual needs and as appropriate we do occasionally refer patients to local consultants.
